Recent legislation legalising the growing of cannabis, as well as research and development into cannabis based products in Zimbabwe and elsewhee in the region has led to tremendous growth in this industry. Providing farmers with quality cannabis germplasm, and consumers with access to safe cannabis products is a priority has become part of our core business. The use of unverified varieties of cannabis, as well as the presence of bacteria and fungi in cannabis based products poses a potential threat quality and consumer safety. Reliance of cultural methods to identify cannabis varieties and the associated pathogens often results in gross inaccuracies. We rely on the power of quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to accurately identify the plants and microorganisms of concern.
